Development

Once a website has gone through our design process, it is turned over to our web development department where it is hand coded in tableless CSS. Using CSS allows us to separate the content of your site from the presentation of your site in the code. Meaning your site's content will be easily accessable to the search engine spiders. For this same reason, tableless CSS also allows us to make our sites Section 508 (handicap accessability) compliant. The software used to read website content for the blind requires the site to be coded in CSS in order to distinguish the content from the rest of the code. So if you think of this software and the search engine spiders as working toward the same goal, finding your content, tableless CSS is a great way to get a leg up on the competition.

Once we have coded a site in CSS, it is then integrated with our backend management software (ePenguins) which is written in PHP. For sites not hosted on our servers, we also integrate with other backend management systems and can use other programming languages if needed. While we do use Flash presentations on some of our sites, we don't recommend having your whole site done in Flash, as this will make your content virtually invisible to the search engines.

We understand that having a great looking website is not enough. Our custom programming allows you to have a great looking site that is also search engine friendly from the get go. And our ePenguins backend management software makes it easy to work on your SEO on a regular basis. As we like to say, what good is a great looking website if nobody can find it?
